WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER
Here is a digital story I made using Windows Movie Maker. I was able to select a collection of photographs and find music from a creative commons site to use that would allow me to post my slideshow without breaking any copyright laws. I chose to make a pictorial travelogue of a trip I made to Amsterdam.
Windows Movie maker is quite easy to use, and you could easily create a slideshow of your student's work and set it to music, or have them narrate. You could also use it as an alternative to PowerPoint as it's simple to add text and record your voice for each slide.
STORYBIRD
STORYBIRD
Here is an instructional video I made on how to use the create a picture book element on Storybird. The Storybird website is a useful tool for creative writing in the classroom. There are many elements to this tool which are helpful to a teacher and which I did not highlight due to time limitations on my video. Teachers have the ability to create assignments for their students and can have student publications collected on a classroom online bookshelf for students to read. It's a pretty easy and fun tool to have at your fingertips.

STOP-MOTION ANIMATION
Students can have fun creating a stop motion animated movie using Stop Motion Studio for the i-pad. They can write their story using a storyboard first and then experiment with the technology. Here is a stop-motion movie I made for demonstration purposes:
